On Wednesday 13th February, the Construction and Design Centre of Excellence (CADCOE), held a launch event for its newly formed Ambassadors Programme.
As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2019, Cadcoe is announcing the brand-new initiative which aims to look at innovative ways to tackle the construction industry skills gap, whilst creating the best opportunities and pathways for next-generation digital engineers. Already working in partnership with Dudley College of Technology, to deliver its fast-track digital construction and design apprenticeship, the training provider believes that providing relevant education and skills for the industry now and in the future, can only be achieved through a collaborative approach.
The ‘Future Skills Ambassadors’ have been chosen for their industry expertise, thought-leadership and educational specialisms, whilst also inviting exceptional future design talent to contribute. The 2019 board includes:
Declan McDonnell, who is heading up the Ambassadors Programme for Cadcoe, comments “we’re really privileged to have such an outstanding spectrum of professionals working with us. As a company we are a hugely passionate and committed group of individuals, always striving to deliver the best service and opportunities to our clients, both businesses and apprentices. Huge change is underway within construction and as a business we’ve reached a pivotal point. Through forming the future skills ambassadors group, we can really ensure we continue to meet those needs and beyond, via the most appropriate methods for industry.”
The launch, which was held at Dudley College of Technology’s Advance Centre, enabled ambassadors to provide their own initial views around digital construction education and training, careers advice in schools and current barriers present in industry when it comes to vocational pathways such as apprenticeships.
The Ambassadors have been carefully selected to represent a wide range of disciplines and themes within the digital construction field, including; engineering, tier 1 contractors, offsite, education, equality and work-based training. They will meet on a further 4 occasions throughout the next 12 months, whilst providing their own thought-leadership pieces.
